The activity of pharmaceutical full-line wholesaling consists of the purchase and sale; warehousing storage; order preparation, and delivery of medicines. Pharmaceutical full-line wholesalers carry and distribute the full assortment of products (in range and depth) to meet the needs of those with whom they have normal business relations and deliver all medicines used in their geographical area of activity within a short time limit.

GIRP Membership is comprised of Full Members and Associated Members. The Full Membership is open to the national associations of pharmaceutical full-line wholesalers in the EU Member states and EEA area and pan-European pharmaceutical full-line wholesaling companies. If a country has no association of full-line wholesalers or if the national association of Full-line Wholesalers is not a member of GIRP, a company, or companies of full-line wholesalers active in this country may altogether become a full member of the Association and be represented on the same basis as a national association.

GIRP Associated Membership is open to national associations as well as to companies of Full-Line Wholesalers from non-EU Member States and countries not belonging to the European Economic Area if this company is a member of a national association or Full-Line Wholesalers, in this country if such a national association exists in this country and which is itself a member of the Association.

GIRP’s External Membership is open to any company or organisation, whether pharmaceutical or not, having professional interests in common with full-line wholesalers.
