The Team
The GIRP Secretariat is responsible for the coordination of GIRP’s activities and provides advice and consultancy services. Based in Brussels, the Secretariat synergizes the needs and actions of the organisation and is proactively involved in the European legislative process ensuring the optimum result for our members. The team is composed of highly motivated and experienced professionals who take care of every need of GIRP members and keep them up-to-date on current policy developments.
Monika is the Director General of the European Healthcare Distribution Association (GIRP). Monika was first appointed to her current position in 2001 and in her role she represents the interests of pharmaceutical full-line wholesalers in Europe towards supply chain partners and decision makers at the national, European and international level. Monika Derecque-Pois was born in Graz, Austria and has a degree in Economics from the University of Economics in Vienna, where she specialised in International Trade and Marketing.
Martin Fitzgerald is the Deputy Director General for the European Healthcare Distribution Association (GIRP). He is in charge of general management of the association while also providing direction and leadership.
Martin’s work also involves dealing with ongoing relationships with member associations, member companies and stakeholders. In addition, he represents the full service- healthcare distribution sector in its dealing with international and European institutions.
Pauline is the Senior Manager Public Affairs for the European Healthcare Distribution Association (GIRP). Pauline is responsible for the conception and publication of external communication material, conference content organisation (conference programmes, speakers, briefings,…), the ongoing relationship with GIRP retail partners and development of new information sessions as part of the event strategy.
Prior to working for GIRP, Pauline held the position of Press Attaché at the Embassy of France in New Zealand. She also worked as Communication and Liaison officer on the European project Link:Ed. Pauline studied Communication strategy and Event management at IAE Lille, Ecole universitaire de management. She speaks fluently French and English and understands Spanish.
Clare is the Communications and Public Affairs Executive for the European Healthcare Distribution Association (GIRP). Clare is responsible for leading the creation, development, and distribution of all communications on behalf of the Association, as well as providing support to organise conference content (conference programmes, speakers, briefings), organises the European Healthcare Value Chain Network Forum, and provides general assistance to the industry members.
Prior to joining GIRP, Clare graduated with honors from Clark University and the London School of Economics with a dual degree in Political Science and Philosophy. Clare also holds a Masters in European Policy and Global Affairs from l’Université Catholique de Lille. She is bilingual in French and English.
Martina is the Association Affairs Executive for the European Healthcare Distribution Association (GIRP). She is in charge of providing general assistance and statistical information to the GIRP members and give regulatory updates on digitalisation and legal issues related to the EU and the national healthcare sectors of the association. She is also responsible for the Administration ofthe Economic and Social Affairs Committee.
After having graduated from the Johannes Gutenberg-University in Mainz, Germany with a Bachelors dual degree in Political Science and Journalism, Martina did a trinational Masters degree in European Studies in Germany, France and Poland. She completed her Master with an internship at the European Parliament. Prior to joining GIRP, she worked as Customer Service Representative and Management Assistant in Monaco in the south of France. Martina speaks German, English, French and Italian.
Beatrice is the Events and Administration Assistant for the European Healthcare Distribution Association (GIRP). Beatrice is responsible for managing and supervising events and conference logistics and for cooperating with other departments in meeting customers’ requirements or needs. She also provides general assistance in all administrative processes.
After a BA in Linguistic Mediation from the University of Milan, Beatrice obtained a Joint MA (University of Milan - Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México) in Languages and Cultures for International Cooperation and Communication, graduating with honours.
Upon completion of her MA, she worked as a Project Manager at the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Mexico City. Before joining GIRP, she was a Front Desk Receptionist, Events Project Manager, and Executive CEO Assistant for companies and luxury hotels in Italy, Spain, Germany, and Mexico. Beatrice speaks Italian, English, Spanish, and German.
Orla is the Regulatory Affairs Executive for the European Healthcare Distribution Association (GIRP). Orla is responsible for various Committee meetings of the association including legal affairs, technical affairs, and the European Green Deal. She also works on several projects of GIRP, organises the Supply Chain Conference, and provides general assistance to the industry members.
After having graduated from University College Cork, Ireland with a joint Bachelors degree in Law and French, Orla did a Master of Laws degree in International Economic Law in Edinburgh, Scotland. Following her Masters, she completed a traineeship in DG TRADE in the European Commission. Orla speaks English, Irish and French.

Philippe provides GIRP continuous IT technical support monitoring and maintaining the computer systems and networks of our organisation. He speaks fluent English besides his native French.
